You need more than one senator and/or president. It’s a law, not a regulation, so an act of congress is what is needed. Bring about $20B an bribe the relevant congress critters for about 5 election cycles or so and you’ll have maybe a 55% chance of getting what you want.

...actually make that $40B. You’ll need it to fight off the foreign auto industry who will be lobbying to keep the import laws they originally lobbied for in tact.

If you live in the more northern part of the United Staes wait until a car you’re interested in is going to be legal for import in a few months and start looking in Canada. I saw some reasonably priced Skylines for sale in Vancouver, BC a couple months before they were legal to import into America and I was very tempted to jump on one and store it with a friend of mine who lives up there until it was 25.
